Braxton hicks or labour?

( im 39 +4) I started losing my plug at about 9 last night and all day yesterday felt a heavy pressure in my pelvis. I phoned the triage number and they told me to put a pad on and call again if anything else happened.

I've not been able to sleep because of pelvis pressure and what feels like quite painful contractions. But the pain is in my abdomen/ pelvis and sometimes my hips but not really in my back, which I read real contractions were. They are about ten mins apart but don't seem to be getting any closer together.

Should I call the hospital again?

Real contractions are not in your back. They are normally in your tummy , ie your pelvis / abdomen. It sounds as if you are in early labour. Just keep timing them, go for walks if you can, have a shower if that helps. As time goes on they will get closer together . When they are about 3 minutes apart, it's time to go to hospital. Good luck !

Hi, it sounds to me like labour. Have warm bath, if the pains settle after the bath it’s likely to be braxton hicks labour pains don’t go away after a bath but the water might make them feel more managable.
No signs of your waters breaking?
They advice when your getting 3 contractions in a ten monitor period it’s time to go in but if your finding them too painful and feel you need to go in sooner by all means phone again x

Thank you. Going to have a bath and see how it goes then call the hospital if it's still happening

Have a bath/shower, paracetamol and try and get a few hours of relaxing. It defiantly sounds like earlyish labour. Are you timing contractions or are you constantly uncomfortable

Timing them. Between 5 and 7 mins now. Phoned the hospital and she said not to go in till they are about 3 mins apart
