Insurance cover for c section

Just wondering if anyone has experience of having a c section covered by their insurance provider? I’ve been told I need a cs for medical reasons but my insurer is saying they don’t cover preventative cases. My obstetrician says all medically required c sections are preventative of some other risk to mother/baby, so I’m wondering what the issue is, perhaps they just don’t make it easy? It would be good to hear from anyone who has experience of this x

What country are you in? Very few people in the uk have private births (non-nhs), so you might not get much response!

My insurer is the same. They price cs and natural birth as the same limit. They did say that if the doctor wrote a letter regarding it being a medical complication requiring a cs then they would consider shifting from the regular max coverage to the unlimited for complications. I think though if the decision was made as a preventative then it would have to be very serious a reason to qualify. Are you with an international insurer or US based?

Hi
I need a c section according to nhs obstetrician, do I see private ob first before I ask my insurance to cover ? Thanks ladies

If you have UK insurance then they are very unlikely to cover anything pregnancy related. if you have international insurance then they may do but if this is the case then speak to the OB first as they will need to write to the insurance to explain why it is medically neccessary

I had 2 both paid for by insurance in the UK but I know this has been clamped down on.
