DD1 9lb 9oz
DD2 10lb 10oz

Both c-sections, DD1 breech. Similar senario to Ghosty convinced DD2 would be reasonable size, in the correct position and raring to go. Wrong!! Posterier presentation, bloody awful attempt and then the inevitable c-section. PPH after both too - not good. Explanation given that big babies stretch uterus so it is then too tired to contract after delivery? Anybody know if this is a reasonable explanation?

But to answer your question rather than witter on, with DD2 there was no extra monitoring or care in respect of her potential size and I was bloody huge (am only 5' 1' on a good day if I stand up really tall), consultant was of the opinion that the estimates are just that and really should have no impact on delivery plan if there are no other contra-indications.

My dd was 9lb 14oz - I had a natural delivery and did tear but I think that was more to do with me pushing really hard to get her out rather than slowly to ease her out (it hurt!).

Don't think the size has much to do with how much you tear, more to do with how you deliver or if they've got a hand in the way. But I'm no expert at all.

Oh and I was 41.5 weeks ...
