Did hypnobirthing work for you?

I've just finished the positive birth company videos and feel a lot better about my second labour (due in 7 weeks). First labour was unnecessarily awful. From ladies who have had their baby and done hypnobirthing, please let me know if it worked for you?

32 hours labouring at home after waters broke with nout but tbh it was only the breathing techniques I used. When the midwife finally turned up at hour 28 and started waffling the script I though can I hell be dealing with this until I gave birth, I was grateful to have had to go in haha. Ended up in a very calm EMCS, my partner flapped a lot more than me, who did absolutely zero flapping. Ended up on G&A coz of pain/pressure/nausea and feeling like I couldn't breathe but apparently even then I was having to be told to use it properly because I was just a bit like I'm fine, everything is fine so I'd say yes haha x

@Lizbiz89 I am think about this for my second, my first labour was quite horrendous. Louise Pentland had some great videos on YT about it she has an awful hospital birth with her first and an amazing Hypnobirth at home with her 2nd xx

I had a bit of a horrible experience at the end of my pregnancy having to spend a few days on the ward before being induced on the drip with only a few minutes notice. I found the hypnobirthing worked great at first but during a painful examination a few hours in, the (newly qualified) midwife made an ill-advised comment about me not having progressed very much and I completely lost the plot! She did apologise for the words she used but it was too late and I didn't regain my focus until the pushing stage.

I think if I'd had a more straightforward start to labour and had felt calmer at thev start it would have been more effective but I am glad I did it and it definitely helped to a greater or lesser degree, even after I'd lost it!

I'm 31 weeks today and also interested in HypnoBirthing. Just looked the Positive Birth Company website. OP, were the videos easy to use? Can you recommend them? Seems cheaper (and easier in terms of flexibility of timings) than others I've looked at. TIA.

@2dogsandPG yes they were really good. Really easy to follow and the lady talks so much sense. Also a lot cheaper than paying for a normal course. It's already made me feel a lot calmer about labour this time around. Definitely recommend them.

Thank you Lizbiz! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy 🙂

I did it with my first but when labour actually started I basically panicked and it was no use whatsoever!
