Kingston or West Middlesex Hospital?

Hi! I'm due to have my first baby and need to choose a hospital. Does anyone have any thoughts or recent (good or bad!) experiences with giving birth in any of these two hospitals?

No personal experience but I read this the other day...

Had my first baby at Kingston... very caring midwife during labour and the rest of the staff was fantastic too.
Both antenatal and postnatal care was excellent.

No experience about West Middlesex unfortunately.

I had my first baby at Kingston in 2014 and the experience was not great. I was very overdue and they admitted me but didn't provide any treatment for 3 days, during which time I was waiting in the MLU with almost no communication as to what would happen and when. I finally had a very fast induction on a syntocinon drip, they misidentified the baby's position and the epidural failed so I laboured without pain relief. Then I had a forceps delivery and a haemorrhage. Some of those things might have happened anyway but it felt like a chain reaction caused by poor care.

I was glad to see recently that Kingston is now highly rated, and my own experience is five years out of date, but I am pregnant again and have decided to stay well away. I'm going to West Middlesex instead, and I'm hoping for a better experience.

@rk07 @HerculesMulligan I'm 28 weeks, also at West Middlesex.

The birthing unit and midwives are lovely.

Had to go into triage a few weeks ago with some bleeding, the student midwife who was with me for ages told me she'd been placed at Kingston, Chelsea Westminster and West Middlesex. She said she'd opt for West Middlesex to give birth at.

Hi there. I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant (first one eek!) and my GP has told me to contact Kingston or West Middlesex. Has anyone had a more recent experience and could recommend?

Both in terms of pre and post-natal support and visits etc. as well as for birth.

Thank you!! Smile
