From yesterday around 6pm I’ve been getting mild period pains, they came and went every 10 mins lasting 1 min each, they disappeared for an an hour then got stronger. Again they came and went every 10 mins lasting a minute disappeared for and hour and came back stronger. This basically kept happening until 1am. I’m 35 + so I was quite concerned so i headed down to the hospital to see the midwife. She monitored baby and I, she asked me how regular the pains were, I explained and she said she could see activity in my womb.
I then had to wait to be seen by the doctor who informed me that my cervix is closed and that she would like to keep me over night and also give me painkillers. I declined the overnight stay and told her I would monitor myself, and if they pain starts again I would come in again. I haven’t taken any painkillers for 9 months also, so if that was a solution to the pain I wasn’t entirely happy with it. I left the hospital at 4 and by this time there was no pain since 1am.
Today I’ve woken up with a slight twang of pain again but it’s disappeared so I’m going to wait for an hour and see if it comes back then head down to the hospital. Has anyone else been through this or know what this is as it’s alarming?

How far along are you?.could it be braxton hicks?

Hi, I’m 35 + 3. I’m thinking it could be Braxton-Hicks, except the pain kept worsening and disappearing. I also had similar today, it started a few hours ago and a bit of back pain too, but it’s disappeared. My Braxton-Hicks usually comes once a day in batches of 3. This pain
Is different to Braxton-Hicks

I had this with my first pregnancy and again with this one earlier this week. I’m 32 weeks.

This time, I had regular, painful and worsening Braxton Hicks with lower back ache. They started off fairly irregular at lunch time, got worse through out the day and really ramped up and became more painful and regular from about 9pm-12pm, died down and then came back for a few hours from 3am. They didn’t feel like normal Braxton Hicks, but clearly were.

I had a bit of an upset stomach, which apparently can cause your uterus to become irritated. Possibly a bit lax, but I didn’t even bother phoning the hospital as found them so dismissive last time, though was getting pretty close at one point.

I had similar but didn't even really register them overly but when I was being monitored they could see very clearly that I was having tightenings. It turned out I had something called an irritated uterus. Apparently it just means that I was contracting (with pain unlike bh) but it was nothing to be worried about. Baby was quite happy and I'm now overdue so hadn't effected the last few weeks of pregnancy in a negative way apart from being uncomfortable!
