I am 41+3 with first baby and going in to hospital tomorrow at 8am for an induction.
If anyone has been in same position how long were you in hospital for and how long after going in was the baby born?
So nervous!

I was given a pessary when I was 41+5 around 10am and DD arrived 6.53pm the following day. I was given the choice to go home after the pessary but chose to stay in. I was pretty nervous but even though the birth wasn't straightforward it still wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! I ended up staying in five days in total due to baby needing antibiotics.

Good luck!

I was (reluctantly) induced at 40+1. My cervix was nowhere near ready so thought would be long and drawn out. Pessary was inserted at 1pm. After monitoring I went for walk round hospital grounds and while out felt a lot of tightenings. I was back on trace at 6:30pm and it was showing very regular contractions, but baby's heartbeat was a bit up and down with them. I was moved to labour ward so next pessary could be inserted there as a result. Before that could happen my waters suddenly went at 11pm and contractions gradually got worse.

I dilated fairly quickly over next few hours and used only tens and g&a. About 5am contractions were tailing off so I was put on the dreaded drip. I didn't need any extra pain relief and continued as I was.

All a bit blurry but baby ended up getting stuck (head in wrong position) so ended up with emsc as forceps weren't an option. I then lost a lot of blood, but baby born at 9am and he was perfect.

As much as I was wary and concerned about experience and outcome of induction, I'm glad I did it. Although the emcs and blood loss was a tough ending after labouring all night, we survived it and we could easily have ended up there with a natural start to labour.

I got home at lunchtime 2 days later, so spent 3 nights in hospital all in.

Hope all goes well for you, relax and go with the flow as much as you can, I found that attitude helped me deal with all the twists and turns thrown at us!

So I went in yesterday morning at 8am, got the pessary about 10am, contractions started right away! They had to take it out two hours later as I was contracting 7 or 8 times in ten minutes!!
Got an epidural as was so sore.
Then baby arrived at 7.40pm via forcep delivery. She was 9lbs8oz!!
Alot quicker than I was expecting! X

I was given a pessary at around 5:30/6 pm, me and DP went on a few walks (in the hospital!) to get things moving and once things started it want long before I was pushing! It went so quick I wasn't able to have pethidine etc like I did with my first 2 dc (was early with both of them) I gave birth at exactly 1pm and it all felt like a whirlwind and I was in a bit of shock! I was home by lunch time! X

Correction, I gave birth at 1am and was home at lunch time, not 1pm!!
