Hi, I am 40+5 today, I had a sweep yesterday (second one) and straight after it got my bloody show. I am still getting bits of blood today and menstrual like cramps.
Has anyone had the same thing and went in to labour soon after?
I am booked in to be induced next Thursday when I will be 11 days overdue, really hoping to go in to labour before then!
This is first baby.

Should maybe add, at my sweep yesterday was told I was 1-2cm dilated

Sounds to me like things are happening!

Best wishes x

Sounds like things are happening. It could take a while to ramp up but it sounds promising!

I had DD at 38+5 and it all happened very quickly after the show and sweep. I had a small bloody show with minor cramping at 6pm, then a sweep at 9pm, when I was surprisingly already 3cm and they could touch the baby’s head. I was quite freaked out by that as no idea I was in labour. Contractions started to be a bit more noticeable, waters broke around midnight and baby was born at 4am after a fairly short but intense couple of hours on delivery suite.

Ooh yes, agree it sounds promising! I had a sweep with my second and went into labour about three hours later. The cramps are a good sign. Good luck!

How's it going op? I might be in a similar situation

I had a sweep late Thursday afternoon and my cervix was closed and quite far back-so not really ready to go.

Just now, after wiping, I had some pink tinged mucus but it looked more like ewcm than what I thought the plug would be?

Could this also be the start - I've had back tinged on and off all day, constant dull ache and I've needed to poo a few times as well!

I'm not sure if it is a bloody show or spotting from the sweep?

The show and cramping stopped yesterday morning and nothing else has happened since! I am now 8 days overdue and induction on Thursday is looking more likely!

I had another sweep today. On Thursday my cervix was closed, hard and posterior.

At this sweep it was anterior, soft and 2cm dilated.

I guess this means things are moving in the right direction and the 2nd sweep could progress things further.

Induction booked for Friday now - I really want to avoid it!

Grimbles good luck!! I really want to avoid my induction on Thursday too! When was your due date? Mine was 20th Jan

Mines not til next week but they wanted to induce at 39 weeks for health reasons. Apparently if you are over 40 your placenta fails bang on 39 weeks Hmm

Walk, walk and walk some more. Also eat dates, although it might me a bit late for that now! Good luck!

Yes. I had a sweep (3rd one though) on 31st Jan at 12pm and had baby at 2.18 1st Feb. I had been having a show for a few days but it then turned into a fresher bloodier show after that, with mild cramps. Good luck!
