I’m booked to have my second baby at the Whittington hospital. Just wondering if anyone knows if they offer postnatal amenity rooms?

Hi. Had first baby there and booked for second in two weeks. They do have side rooms but they’re reserved for unwell patients - I had one last time as DD was in NICU. Not sure if you can pay for one, you can certainly request one but it’ll depend on availability - limited. Secondly, they’re currently returning their postnatal ward so joy of joys, they’re using an old medical ward temporarily so even less likely!

Otherwise it’s fine - postnatal care is as with everywhere really!

Would either of you recommend Whittington?

I've had two babies at the Whittington with the most recent being last Dec. My last experience was poor. A word of caution re: temporary ward. Its incredibly hot - you are sweating constantly . Midwives great bedside manner - other staff not so much. I had a section. Many times I called for assistance and no one would come. My area was often a mess with maternity/ bed pads on the floor as hard for me to bend down to place in bin. My food would be placed out of reach so sometimes I just didn't/ couldn't get to it.i would have hoped staff on a mat ward would at least see I was breast feeding and push it near me.toilets gross. I didn't have my partner with me 24/7 so would recommend you have someone stay with you if going there as you need the help that you won't get from the staff.
