Episiotomy not healed - 3 weeks pp

I had my baby just over three weeks ago and had to have an episiotomy. Unfortunately I lost a stitch quite quickly but had this checked out and was told it would heal fine and it definitely felt like it had started to, but over the last few days it's really sore again in the place where I lost the stitch originally Sad

I've been bathing in lavender which was recommended by the midwife post birth but is there anything else I can do? It just feels like a deep graze down there and hurts to sit down which I didn't expect 3 weeks post labour. I have booked a GP app but I couldn't get in for 2 weeks Confused

I also haven't passed a solid stool since giving birth - should I be worried?

Any advice would be much appreciated - thank you x

Contact your midwife team. Two weeks is ridiculous!

If you are out of midwife care can your HV get a more urgent appointment with your GP for you? In my experience they aren’t terribly useful though, at my 6 week check they told me my 2nd degree tear wouldn’t fully heal until I stopped breastfeeding, in the end it took about 4 months. When I mentioned this to the midwife second time round she said that was ridiculous and I should have asked to be referred back to the hospital.

That's terrible. You've just had a baby. You should insist on an appointment ASAP to get it looked at.
I'm sorry to add though, it took many months for me to feel properly healed and pain free following an episiotomy.

2 weeks is a disgrace. I'd say it took me a good 4-5 weeks for me to stop walking like a duck and be able to sit down properly. Can't help with the other issue though. I was on a stool softener (glamourous!) for ages.

Unfortunately I agree with a previous poster, I had a long recovery after this. I actually got an infection several weeks after which put my recover back and I was on antibiotics.

I defo second getting an earlier appointment, seems ridiculous you'd have to wait all that time.

Hope you're feeling better soon x

Thank you for replying to me - I meant to reply sooner but you know what it's like with a LO Blush

I have been to the GP and got some antibiotics - the other issue will be reviewed at my 8 week check x
