Passing retained placenta 2 weeks after birth- freaking out

I'm on day 17 post birth. Forceps, episiotomy and second degree tear, major haemorrhage of 1800 litres, etc etc. It was traumatic and scary and I was desperate to get out of hospital. Since then recovery has been slow but ok, I was starting to get over the trauma of it all.

Then this morning, and sorry as this is so gross, I felt something fall out of me. Big bit of tissue about 3 inches long, accompanied by a fair amount of blood. Went to labour triage where they confirmed it was a piece of placenta, luckily no signs of infection at the moment but I have to go back on Tuesday for a scan to see if there is any more left, then will start on antibiotics and if there's anything left it will be treated with 'medication or surgery' apparently.

Has anyone else had this? And what happened/what was the treatment you had? Really hoping the bit I passed was all of it but it was really scary, I thought I was having another big bleed and I'm very anxious about having to go back into hospital. I thought the whole birth disaster was finally over but it feels never ending.
