Giving birth alone

Has anyone given birth on their own?
How was it?

My partner has walked out on me at 6 months.......I don't want anyone else in the delivery.

Any tips on doing it alone?

Oh that's very difficult but birth-wise, your midwife is your birthing partner really, you'll be ok Flowers

Well, on one born every minute there was a woman on her own and they just kept her midwife with her at all times by the look of it. If you're doing hypnobirthing, being on your own may well be better.

Yes I did. Was fantastic. My ex walked out when I was 13 weeks. I didn't have an arsehole beside me so that was a major bonus!

ChanklyBore · 07/01/2019 21:37

Bliss. Much prefer to be solo. The whole performance aspect of birth is awful and so much pressure.

Dark room. Just me. Yes.

I'd love to do this this time around but I don't have the heart to tell DH Blush

kateemo · 07/01/2019 21:41

It was much easier alone IMHO. I felt a lot more relaxed than during the first, when DH was there.

IfYouLikeALotOfChocolate · 07/01/2019 21:43

I haven’t but at my homebirth at the weekend DH was so busy making tea/fetching stuff that he was only there for the last few seconds and realistically it was the midwives I turned to not him

Didsomeonesaybunny · 07/01/2019 21:59

Sorry to hear about your ex OP. A similar thing happens to me and like you I was adamant I was going to do it alone however when the time came I had my mum with me and I’m glad I did, it would have been a lovely experience for me otherwise.

Do you have any family or friends that could hold your hand?

scaredofthecity · 07/01/2019 22:05

I did it, on accident, but it was great. I could just concentrate on myself instead of worrying about my DH. It was a very positive experience

Ijustwanttofeelbeautiful · 08/01/2019 18:24

I haven’t, but my DP is going to be away in the weeks before my due date and I said if I go into labour, I’d prefer to do it alone than have anyone else there.

Sorry that your partner has left Flowers you’ll get through this.

katykins85 · 08/01/2019 18:31

Yes I did with 1 of my lot, DH is military so couldn't be there. Honestly, it was lovely! So chilled, wasn't worrying about him or getting irritated by him going on about being tired/hot/hungry etc. My midwife stayed with me and it was great Smile I promise you will be ok Smile
