Tender tummy after giving birth?

I had my first baby 2 weeks ago, for the past couple of days I've had a tender tummy, lower down where period pain would be, but it's when physically pressing it, it hurts or if I bend over and it squashes, is it normal? Been having headaches daily too. First baby so not sure if it is normal or something I should get checked for

Your internal organs will still be rearranging themselves - I think it can take up to 6 weeks for your uterus to shrink back to its normal size. A few twinges and aches are totally normal but if it's constant, do get it checked out.

As for the headaches, maybe you are dehydrated? I sweated constantly for weeks post birth, I lost 2 stone in the first 2 weeks after birth, only 9lb of it was baby!

If you are breastfeeding you will also need to drink more as your body will be using lots of water to make your milk.

Congratulations!

You continue contracting for a while, more often whilst bf and when baby cries. It will be tender for some time. You're also healing a significant internal wound where the placenta was. Seriously up your water intake too especially if you are bf (hand cream and moisturiser goes a long way too).
