As the title says really ladies.
I am having my second child and I am having a section this although (in around a month but date tbc).

I've looked online about best underwear, night wear and just generally comfortable clothes for recovery, but thought I'd ask you guys as you'd know best.

Thanks in advance xxx

Big cotton pants are essential!
Button top pj's or nightie
Loose joggers are good for leaving the hospital
If you have shoes you can wear without socks to go home in that night be easier
High waisted lounge pants/pj bottoms until you need top be properly dressed

I think that's everything particular I used. I'd pack both pj's and a nightie for the hospital so that if one doesn't suit you can change. I used pj's first time and wished I'd got a nightie. Second time I packed a nightie but was fine in pj's and joggers!

Big pants, nighties, dresses, high waist trousers.

I struggled after my EMCS as my bump had been humungous so only had under the bump clothes that then rubbed on the wound. I ended up having to buy more maternity trousers to get me through the next couple of months while my abdomen reached a more proportionate size compatible with upsizing on regular clothes.
Second time, I only packed nighties and dresses so fit wasn't an issue and another EMCS wouldn't be a clothing crisis.

Massive cotton pants. Nothing with a tight waist. Probably a lot of what was comfy in later pregnancy will be fine. Over bump things, leggings and tunics / dresses. You might find bending uncomfortable so shoes / boots that are easy to get on and off we’re good for me. I think it varies hugely, my first I was really not comfortable for ages after, the 2nd and third I was into more normal clothes within 2-4 weeks, depending on how forgiving they were with respect to weight gain / bump shrinkage.

Thanks ladies. I already have nighties so will get some Pjs too. I also already wear over the bump leggings so will hold onto those. Will look into joggers and some cotton pants. Xx

This a german company (from their version of dragons den) that make csection compression panties with inbuilt ice packs for the incision site. Definitely the best ones I‘ve tried from all types of giant pants/csection pants! www.kaiserschluepfer.de
They do ship outside germany but you may need to email them directly to arrange the details.

Soft jersey yoga pants with a fold-over waistband were a godsend for me especially as I was still very swollen after preeclampsia and emcs. Loose tunic-style tops and dresses. Basically you want clothes that are as pyjama-like as possible! Good luck Smile

Yakadee · 27/12/2018 10:46

I can do pajama like!!

@Pomfluff - how interesting! Will defo look at these x

Big pants - I got cheap black ones from Primark last time that were so comfy and didn't matter if they got ruined (no one tells you you still bleeding after a section. Who knew?! I certainly didn't 🤣)

Then I lived in yoga pants, cheap joggie bottoms/hareem pants.

You really don't need anything too flash/expensive

I ended up wearing DH's boxers for about 3 weeks to accommodate the swelling around my wound. Fortunately he didn't mind Grin

eurochick · 28/12/2018 19:15

I was in big pants and maternity dresses for quite a while after my section.

I got some stuff today (with a voucher I got for Christmas - I get the same m&s voucher every year, not somewhere I shop and usually end up spending it on things for my son or food) and think I'm pretty much sorted.

Got ;
Massive black knickers (I know about the bleeding 😩)
Big loose Pjs
Loose joggers
2 x plain tshirts

I already have leggings and nighties so hopefully I'm more or less there clothes wise.

Thanks for your help ladies xxx
