Induction

I'm supposed to be getting induced tomorrow, but my midwife told me to ring up at 9am to make sure they have room as some of the girls could still be there and there's only 5 rooms.. Is this standard procedure or has anyone else experienced this and not been able to go in? How likely is it that I'll have to wait a few more days?:(x

I imagine it’s fairly common as your baby must be late but not in any danger. I was admitted on a Wednesday morning and supposed to be induced that day but it didn’t get started until the Thursday night and then it didn’t work so I ended up having a c section Friday morning, I had no idea that inductions sometimes didn’t work.

Yes common in our area but I rang and there was a bed so went in. Took a couple of days for baby to arrive though. (Take some ear plugs wards are noisy) x

I was added in as an 'extra' induction on orders of the consultant (as was 1 other). Mine was because DS was measuring big and we wanted to reduce likelihood of a section. Meant I was on a bay rather than private room.

Mine took just over 24 - we were due in at 6pm, started about 9pm and literally nothing doing until about 1pm. They had a list of people waiting to go to delivery to have water broken once dilated enough (I skipped this queue)

I was told to ring at 8am which I did. They then said they'd ring me back when they knew what time they wanted me in. They rang back at 11am and I had to go in at 2pm.

Yep it's standard

Ah I see. Quite hit and miss then. Suppose we will just have to find out! Just so eager to have him out now it's so close to Christmas:( also I'm being induced because his growth has slowed, I'm 39+1 x

I also had a sweep a couple of days ago and was told the outer part of my cervix had started to open (?) So the induction process may not take as long..
