Sex after episiotomy

Wondering if anyone can tell me how soon after they had sex? It feels healed and no more pain whatsoever but I'm definitely worried about going for it incase I somehow rip it back open?!

Have you had you 6 week check and if so did they check how you are healing? I can't remember how long I waited- maybe 2 months or so.

Thegirlwithnousername · 20/12/2018 09:59

I waited quite a while after I healed..Partly because we were both exhausted and partly because I was nervous about it.
It was uncomfortable for a few times but I haven't felt any discomfort for awhile..It just takes time to heal and feel back to normal but if you feel like it go for it as long as it looks all healed.

I had my check up today but she didn't check my stitches. They have felt healed for a good couple of weeks now. I'm surprised there isn't more guidelines on it as a normal delivery is 4 weeks but I can't seem to find some kind of guidance on episiotomy! I may give it a couple weeks as I just got my contraception anyway so will have to wait for that to kick in. Thank you for your replies xx

Aw bless, if it has healed, doesn't feel uncomfortable and you've had your six week check, you should be OK. Sometimes it's nerve wracking so a bit of lube won't hurt. You'll be fine. You may find it wonderful, especially if you really want it.

Good luck.

SnuggyBuggy · 20/12/2018 12:22

I was about 12 weeks more due to exhaustion. It was fine, the breastfeeding oestrogen dip is what's causing the problems

mortifiedmama · 20/12/2018 14:12

We waited 9 weeks and it was agony!

Meganc559 · 20/12/2018 20:53

I only wanted 2 weeks and had no pain at all,I think having early allowed it to heal better toox

GetOffTheTableMabel · 20/12/2018 20:55

8 weeks.
It wasn’t painful.

FeloniusGru · 20/12/2018 21:22

9/10 weeks for me but that’s because I didn’t heal very well. I had an infection and the stitches had been put in loose and therefore the wound didn’t close up properly and I was still very sore. Wasn’t painful as such but the area felt a bit tight and I was definitely very tense which probably didn’t help!

Peanut91 · 24/12/2018 21:29

7 weeks for me. I was very nervous but we took it slowly. It felt tight and a little uncomfortable to start with but worth it!

SlimGin · 31/12/2018 20:27

6 weeks for me and we took it slow. That area felt fine, maybe a little tight, but deeper in felt weird as if my cervix was lower, so that was uncomfortable in some positions. Waited another 2/3 weeks until next time and everything felt fine :)

Rainycloudyday · 31/12/2018 20:34

9 weeks for me. The first two times were very painful and I was so worried that would be permanent but from the third time on it was fine.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 02/01/2019 15:54

7 weeks- it was totally fine.

Why didn’t the doctor check your wound at the six week check? I had the same thing with my GP and I had to be quite assertive that I wanted them to actually have a look instead of just assuming it was fine!

Alyosha · 03/01/2019 18:08

I tried at 4 weeks but it was too painful, tried again at 6 weeks and it was fine - initially pain at the entrance but this went away almost immediately and it felt even better than before. We used plenty of lube! I had a ventouse delivery with episiotomy
