C section recovery: hernia?

Hi,

I am 5 weeks post my third section. I have more swelling above the right hand end of my scar and intermittent burning pain. I don’t remember having this with my other two. I have been much more active this time round with two small boys to look after as well as my baby girl. Do my symptoms mean I have a hernia? I already think I have a small umbilical hernia...

Probably best to see you gp about this one. I guess it’s unlikely to be infected now, but it could be, or it could be a pocket of fluid. Or as you say, a hernia.

After each of my (3) sections I had wierd uneveness. It’s all still not symmetrical. I definitely had way more pain with my third due to disolvable stitches. Others were normal ones that needed removing on day 5.

Hi Bonzo-exactly the same as you I had dissolvable stitches this time after normal ones last time and found it way more uncomfortable. Now it’s the end of the day I have pretty even swelling now, but the burning pain is definitely worse on right side. I actually saw obstetrician today anyway (have had lots of complications and was getting checked) and he said it looked fine, but I’m not sure whether he would be the authority on hernias or not.

Stitches still give be the odd bit of gip 3 years later. I had literally no trouble from the previous 1.
