Induction - kind of nervous!

Hi,

I went into labour spontaneously with my 1st baby, but I'm now 41 + 5 with my second and have my induction booked for tomorrow. I'm not really sure what to expect - the midwife who booked me in for it said that they now give the 24hr pessery and send you home to start labouring. And if that doesn't work, it's back for another pessery the next day.

What I'm confused about is whether they'll check to see if my cervix is favourable and/or dilated enough to break my waters to start me off instead? I don't know whether to take my bags in just incase? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Argggg I wish she'd just decide to come herself tonight Hmm x x x

The pessary is the less invasive and risky option so they will always try that first. As a second time mum close to 42 weeks there's a sound chance you won't really need more than a nudge. Once your waters are gone you are vulnerable to infection and wouldn't be able to go home - and outcomes are better/women happier if they can be at home for a bit.
