Hi all,

Elective section tomorrow! Although I'm very excited, I'm very nervous as had a natural birth last time. Any tips/ advice?

Thanks

Push yourself but don't push yourself afterwards! By which I mean: go for shuffle walks as early as you can, try and get yourself moving about, try and stand straight. But absolutely pay attention to any discomfort and don't overdo things. Take the pain meds as directed - don't wait for it to hurt before you take anything.

Good luck! I had a very relaxed EMCS (ELCS booked, then went into labour early so it wasn't a scary emergency) and it was great. It'll probably be a longer recovery than a straightforward vaginal birth would have been - but honestly, I was back to 80% normal within a week, and felt absolutely as usual within a month. They can be great!
