Early induction - 35 weeks

Hi, I am being induced on Monday at 35 weeks and I am starting to freak out a little. Does anyone have any experiences of being induced not at full term? I have been advised to set my expectations it can take days to work as cervix isn't ready to soften and after 3 x failed gel attempts they will move to c section.

I was induced a little later at 37 weeks. Went in Friday morning, waters broke Saturday afternoon and active labour started late Saturday night. He was born 11.56pm Sunday via c-section because of long labour and he turned as I got to 9cm so got his shoulders stuck.
Just remember that everyone's body/baby/birth is different

I was induced at 36 weeks due to ICP. Has a sweep and a pessary in the morning, read hello magazine until my waters broke and contractions started at lunchtime and DS was born after less than an hour later.

All very quick and surreal. No time for the epidural I had in mind, just 2 paracetamols and a bit of gas and air!

If you don't mind me asking, op, why are you getting induced so early?

Induced at 36+3... waters broke and was 4cm 20 mins after pessary went in!

@Rosesared my waters ruptured at 21 weeks so it's risk of infection. The aim was always 35 weeks.

Well, op, glad you made it this far! Hope it all goes smoothly for you and that by early nxt week you'll be cuddling pink foot :)
Maybe start drinking raspberry leaf tea to shorten the pushing phase, and let us know how you are x

Induced at 38 weeks. Pessary inserted at 1-30pm and he was here by 5-56pm laboured very fast. However I was expecting a good few days in hospital! Best of luck

I'm currently in hospital waiting on a 37th week csection on 17th Dec (seems like some time away atm! But Placenta Pravia and had 3 abruptions so they want to try and get us to 37 and stay put just in case...have a 14month old Dd at home with daddy who I'm missing like mad xx)
Have they given you the steroid injections yet? Had mine at 32 weeks but they want to give a second lot the weekend before just to make sure)

Induced at 36 weeks due to pre eclampsia.

2 lots of pessaries, contractions started about 20 hrs after the first lot. Was in labour for 3 days before having a EMCS.

DD was small but perfectly formed and I'd now a 9 year old in age 12 clothes!

I was induced just before 35 weeks with my first baby. I didn't end up needing the pessary as I was already dilating slightly. I had my waters broken and was on the drip after that. It was intense but baby was absolutely fine when she arrived about 8 hours later!

Hi all. Just an update, I was induced yesterday I have had my third gel but cervix hasn't changed and is still long. They've spoken about a rest day and then coming back in to start it again, I am worried I will need to end up having a section anyway after all that and is it best to just request one now? Thanks xx

Sorry to hear it hasn't worked yet, doesn't mean you'll definitely need a section. They'll likely try again with more gel then start you on the drip to try and induce your contractions. Fingers crossed for you. Keep us all posted when you can, thinking of you x
