Injections after c section

Mumsnetters, can you help?

I had my DD via planned c section (breech) in June. All fine, recovered well. Before I went in my friend said to me to expect to have to inject myself daily once home to reduce the risk of blood clotsand the hospital will send me home with the necessary stuff. She said she had to after both her sections.

Anyway this didn't happen for me and I had forgotten until today until talking to another friend who had a c section recently and she said the same. She was sent home with 5 weeks worth of injections. She was very surprised I hadn't been given any.

Does anyone know why this may be? The only difference I can think of is because mine was planned whilst my two friends were emergency sections.

I had them for a week as I ticked several boxes of risk...
over 40, familial history of day, previous cancer.
I did them myself in hospital (ds was in NICU), they didn't hurt.

I didn't find they hurt particularly either. No more than any other injection, anyway. The weirdest thing for me was the difference in texture of my belly - sticking a needle in my belly for IVF felt physically quite different to doing the same thing postnatal.

@grumpysausage I wasn't sent home with any injections. I think it was because I recovered so well I was up and out of bed 5 hours post operation so that's why. I was exercising all my muscles in my legs so I was sent home the next day. Hope this helps x

I had them every evening while I was in hospital after my c section but nothing for when I went home.

I had an emergency call when I was 37 and was given enough for two weeks. Was shown how to do it in the hospital. HTH
