Upper leg contractions

I had DS 2 years ago, and I've never been able to make sense of his birth. I really struggled with labour pains, more so than I thought I would. He was back to back and all my contractions were in my front upper thighs/hips. Absolutely none felt in my back or over my bump. I had practised yoga and breathing techniques and was planning on an active labour but the pains in my legs meant I couldn't stand never mind walk.

Ended up progressing too quickly for an epidural and had a water birth with gas and air, but looking back I was really taken aback by how sore it was.

Has anyone else experienced a labour with just contractions in the legs??

It wasn't for my whole labour but even with an epidural I was in severe pain as my lo was 'stuck' on my sciatic nerve are the pain in legs was unbelievable. Could be similar?

Thanks for replying! I'm struggling to find anyone who's felt similar.

I don't know. I'm pregnancy again so will try ask a midwife next time I see one.
