Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone could help and advise me on a couple of things with a birth plan and what I need to do etc. I'm not really sure what I have to do.

Can anyone also help with a hospital bag?

Can you may tell this is my first pregnancy so everything is new to me!

Thank you all

Hospital bag for me:
• button down nighty
• 750ml water in the freezer - Freezing and little bits of water to sip as it defrosted for labour!
•Face cloth/flannel
• Lip balm
•Tankani/bikini top for bath/pool
•Maternity pads (not sanitary towels) with wings (24 pack)
•Witch hazel so good - soak on some sterile dressing and put on your sore bits.
•Lansinoh nipple cream
•Lansinoh breastfeeding pads
•Pack or 2 of full brief cheap black pants
•Socks
•Slippers
flip flops for shower
•Plenty of snacks - Breast feeding makes you really hungry
•Couple of ready made bottles of formula ( if your hospital doesn't provide them maybe bring some in case of BF issues?)
•2 pair dark stretchy pj bottoms (make sure come up to belly button in case of c section)
•2 pj button down tops
•nursing vest top (means you can take pj top off if too warm)
•2 nursing bras
•dressing gown
•travel size shower gel
•hair brush/bobbles/grips
•phone charger
•toothbrush/toothpaste
•Face wipes and moisturiser
•Deodorant
•Dark towel
•Going home clothes (maternity clothes! DP can bring these in for you have them sitting out)

Baby bag:
•6 sleepsuits (with built in scratch mitts)
•6 vests (bodysuits)
•2 blankets
• 6 muslin cloths
Bibs
Socks
•Going home sleepsuit
•Would highly recommend a knitted cardigan - coats are impossible to get on a newborn and these are nice & warm
• Nappy cream (their first couple of poos are black tar - called meconium) get cream on before their first poo easier cleaned
•Water Wipes/Cotton wool
Vaseline
•15 newborn nappies (Pampers over here stick to their bum ask Kelly best brand)
•Extra soft towel (if baby has first bath in hospital)

First time on birth plan I said I might have remifentanil for pain relief. They asked me frequently throughout if I wanted anything and stayed on gas and air.

This time Epidural will be all over my plan!

You can state things like dimmed lights or if you're practising hypnobirthing.
Or if you want delayed cord clamping
DP to cut the cord etc

Please ignore the Pampers comment 😂 that was for my sister 🤣 think Pampers have changed for newborn and are much better now.

With my birth plan for DD I thought a lot about how to get the best possible worst case scenario. So because I can't have an epidural, I decided that I would decline induction so as to minimise the range of drugs in my system should I have to have a section.

I would highly recommend "spritz for bitz" it helped me so so much after a difficult labour. Forceps and 66 stitches (ouch) I was in a lot of pain and was struggling to go for a wee and this helps soothe the pain and it also cleanses you. I couldn't recommend it enough x
