Bricking it!

Had two emergencies before but was so delirious with pain that I didn't really register what was happening.

This time I'll be fully aware and I'm terrified!

Please share your positive elective caesarean stories!!

Good luck for tomorrow. Any of my friends said their ELCS was miles better in comparison to previous emcs. You'll be great!

I had my planned section / elective section on Mon 15th Oct. It was a wonderful experience.

We arrived at 07.30 onto the ward we were going onto. We were given my gown and scrubs for my DH. Then by 8 I had the anaesthetist come by, and go through the anaesthetic that would be used during surgery. We agreed on the spinal block so my DH could be there and also so I was awake and could see my beautiful boy being born.

8.30 the surgeon/my consultant came by to double check paperwork and the risks to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into. As this is major abdominal surgery. Once agreed we were told we were 2nd on the list so we would be headed down at 10.30.

10.20 arrived and one of the midwives on our ward said they had finished already and they were just prepping for our c -section! Next me we were headed down to theatre, we walked there together hand in had. I was very nervous.

Walked into theatre, and DH was told to wait in the waiting room whilst they prepped me as he wasn't allowed in there. I went in and was surrounded by a whole female team, including my surgeon. They were all so lovely and very accommodating as I was so nervous! They put the spinal block in and that was it really. I couldn't feel a thing, but I laid there balling my eyes out with my DH as it was such a calm and overwhelming experience. Next minute we hear our son cry, and we cried even more. I've never seen DH cry so much! It was beautiful. So very calming and everyone in theatre was so reassuring and they let us have skin to skin, and they dropped the curtain when he was being born for us to see. I rate my hospital 5* it was incredible I would definitely have a section again! I was on my feet 5 hours post section. I wish you good luck and you'll be awesome today! Enjoy every minute! Cos I sure did.

Thanks for your replies.

Section went well and I have a beautiful baby boy.

I pretty much hated every second of it but it was much better than previous emergency sections. The enhanced recovery programme and specialist ward afterwards was fantastic too
