Stretch and sweep

Hi!
I'm 38+2. Just been to the midwife, babies heads engaged and I was partially effaced so she offered me a stretch and sweep. Also my 'show' has happened and I'm 1cm dilated already. Anybody got any experience on how successful this can be at this stage and what I can do to help move it along? My first baby! So no previous experience!
Thank you!

Do you know if there is a particular reason why you're being offered a stretch and sweep before 40 weeks? I've been told it's not regular practise to offer until 40-41 weeks by my midwife.

DD1- fully effaced and 1cm dialated. Sweep mid morning, arrived at 5am.
DD2- mostly effaced and 1.5cm dialated. Sweep mid morning, arrived at 2am!

I think I just respond well to sweeps or my midwife is just amazing at them! I’d say there is no reason it wouldn’t work, especially if you’ve had your show. I had my show with DD1 but the show with DD2 didn’t happen until my waters broke.

Thanks for replying!!
Not sure why she offered early but I wasn't going to say no, I'm so uncomfortable.
Oh good that's filled me with confidence! It's so confusing and everything you read actually makes you more confused. I just hope he's ready! I've had "period" like pains all afternoon so I'm hoping it's a good sign. Xx
