Ladies who have had emergency sections... Please tell me this may go back to normal?? I had my baby 7 weeks ago and my belly folds over my scar like a flap which doesn't seem to be flattening out. I'm so scared it's going to stay this ugly and uncomfortable, I feel so self conscious as this shows through my clothing and catches on my pants & jeans constantly.. SadSad

I had EMCS 16 years ago and ELCS 14 years ago. The "flap" has not gone. That said, I'm an "Apple" shape so carry fat on my tummy. Even when I have got down to 8 stone (I'm 5'5"), I've always had the "flap" since my c-sections. I do normally exercise quite a bit too.

I've seen others on MN say they got back to flat tummies after c-sections, so perhaps it is a question of body shape.

I think it varies on body type, skin etc etc.

I've had 2 emergency sections, the 2nd of which was 4 months ago. I still have a bit of weight to lose but no flap or any issues wearing tight trousers/jeans/pants.

I also don't have any numbness around the scar. I suspect that is just down to "luck" and genetics.

10 weeks later here. At first the skin hung over and my scar wasn't visable due to this. I've lost some weight, not loads mind but some, and now the skin has moved up and my scar is visable. I think if I were to really dedicate myself to a healthy diet and exercise it would maybe go but I'm unlikely to ever do that.

C section 8 years ago and 4 years ago. I still have the overhang. Have to wear pants that reach my belly button otherwise the pants roll down under the overhang and irritate the scar.

Some people go back to a washboard stomach. I think it's all down to genes and body shape.
