Hello there,

Just found out not long time ago that I am pregnant ! It seems quite overwhelming decision that I need to make where to give birth. Read few articles about different options. I am very inclined for the water birth . Anyone could share some experience /recommendations ? Anything round west London would be ideal.
Thank you

I hated it! Which is odd, as I love baths but I found the water annoying. Got out. But I'm an odd one!

I had my second in the water and I loved it. I found it a great pain relief. However, it's my understanding that you can only have gas and air in the pool so if you think you're likely to want an epidural etc, you might want to reconsider a water birth. I delivered in a birth centre based inside a hospital so if anything was going wrong, I was only a corridor away from treatment. I don't think I'd have risked a separate unit miles from a hospital.

You should be able to take a tour of both later in your pregnancy to help you decide.

I had water births for both my pregnancies and loved it! You can only have gas and air plus paracetamol but I was really lucky as the hospital I was at have a birthing unit plus labour ward so if I'd needed extra pain relief I would have been able to be transferred there.
