Postpartum Bleeding

How heavy was your bleeding? Did you leak a lot? How did you manage heavy bleeding and constant visitors? How long did you bleed for? How awful was it really?

At the start there was a lot of blood. I bled through a lot of heavy flow pads. I bled through to hospital bed while there were visitors which wasn't nice.

With my son I bled continuously for 4 months and with my daughter it was around 7-8 weeks.

Bled a lot, much more than a period but just the same to manage. Maternity pads not sanpro and change every hour to start with. I bled heavily for 3-4 weeks then a further 3 weeks of period flow.

I bled for about 2 weeks after both of mine. It was heavier the more I did, so if I was just sitting down for a while I wouldn't bleed much, but if I was walking around a lot I would bleed more. Someone suggested buying incontinence pads before which I wish I'd thought of, because those bloody maternity pads are so thick and uncomfortable!

First week I wore the nice big maternity pads, changed them every few hours, including overnight but I was up with the baby so that was fine.
My bleeding lightened off and was like a light/medium period for about 6 weeks and then stopped.
And if I had visitors and needed to change I just excused myself to the loo and changed the pad, much like being on a period.
Also, you don’t have to have constant visitors if you don’t want them.

The bleeding wasn't as bad as I'd expected. I was in hospital for a few days due to complications and by the time I came home it was more like a heavy period. Within 2 weeks it had stopped completely.

Mine has been very light. It’s still happening 10 days after birth but has been like a constant light period. I did haemmorage during labour though so lost a lot of blood then.

I sometimes have heavy periods anyway and it wasn't as bad though I prepared myself by having incontinence pads to put on my hospital bed and my bed at home, as well as having maternity pads. I bled for about 4 weeks but by the end it was a very light period and I only bled when I breast fed.

It is actually far easier to manage than a heavy period due to being mainly at home or in a relations/friends home, so changing wasn't a problem. At work when I have heavy periods I can realise I have an issue in a meeting and can't always excuse myself to go toilet.

My baby is 4.5 weeks old. I’m just having v light discharge now but as another poster said, it can get a bit heavier if I’ve done too much.

Mine wasnt too bad. Bled heavily for 4-5 days and then it was just like an extended period. I am now 3 weeks post partum and bleeding has stopped
