Backache at week 38

Did I say backache? I mean back pain, focused on my left kidney (but have no other symptoms of water infection). It really hurts - and I say this as somebody who has been having painful BHs for the last 3 weeks, and sacro-iliac pain on and off for months! Paracetemol, homeopathy, shower jets won't touch it. TENS helps and so does moving around. Neither of which is particularly practical in bed when the pain is at its worst. How normal is this and must I expect it to last for another 2 weeks?

Hmmm, could be the start of something- no promises though! Just thinking that i ant tell kidney pain from severe epriod pains (and have had both at some stage)

Good Luck!

(Ifs till abd tomorrow chat to MW JIC)

have you an infection ? have you had your wee tested lately?

CorrieDale · 13/06/2007 20:08

I did mention it to the MW today and she didn't seem particularly concerned. It's intermittent (thank God!) - walking around loosens it up, and lying down makes it much, much worse. Last night, I piled up the pillows so I was virgually sitting up, and used the TENS machine all night and managed to get some sleep. TENS is just brilliant!!! (Mind you, bedtime use is going to get me through a serious number of electrodes...)

That's interesting Peachy about the pains feeling the same - I've never had any kind of water infection, and don't get much period pain unless I'm pregnant, so I'm a bit of an amateur at this.

Thanks for your responses.

And Lulu wins the cigar!!!!

Saw the consultant today (who was LOVELY BTW and while not entirely enthusiastic about my HBAC, certainly didn't try to dissuade me!) and my urine sample was ++. So he's got me to provide another sample for them to test for - you've guessed it - a water infection. Think I might give up on this self-diagnosis lark.
