Had to google as wasn't sure what it was I had done when dd was 7 months old. Turns out I didn't have this: I tore and then was stitched too tightly and so had an episiotomy under local and a restitch.

I found the procedure I had pretty grim because I was awake. From looking at the web it looks like you'll have a GA. While ordinarily I think GAs are good to avoid, in this case I'm sure it'll be a good thing. Also, if you're in discomfort now, then more discomfort afterwards with a positive result being pain-free again must be worthwhile.

Sorry no real advice. With me, dh was unable to have any time off, but my mother and mother-in-law both helped look after dd in the days after I had the restitch because I was rather sore and emotional. Think I was lacking the endorphins that carried me through the original tear/stitching.

Hope all goes well.
