Ooh, bump for you, it must be so hard waiting! Same dates as you here and have had starting/stopping thing on and off for a few weeks...nothing as definite as yours though, it's great that you've had a show and are dilated! Your baby is really on its way for sure...

Lulumama might be around later with tips for getting things moving, I know some of the drill but not all so will leave it up to her or whoever gets here first!!

Good luck x

lissie · 11/06/2007 07:17

woohoo! good luck... will check back for the announcement!!

bananabump · 11/06/2007 07:26

oooh congrats, it won't be long now eh? Saw these tips on babycentre.com for you:

To speed labour up, first try some natural techniques. Contractions may open up the cervix more quickly if you are:

? upright

? regularly changing your position

? eating and drinking according to need (if you're starving, your body cannot produce the energy required to keep contractions going).

These simple measures might be enough to kick-start your labour:

? If you're lying on the bed in the delivery room, get up! Take a walk to the toilet because a full bladder can slow your labour down

? Remember that being relaxed will make labour more enjoyable and probably easier to cope with

? If you're feeling very tense, ask your birth companion to massage your back firmly, or your feet if you're sitting in a chair. Try inhaling a drop of lavender oil on a handkerchief or listen to some soothing music

? Have a small snack if you feel like eating (perhaps some toast), and make sure you're not getting dehydrated

? Rock your hips and lean forwards during contractions to help your womb push your baby firmly down onto the cervix.

I have to say sex and nipple stimulation did it for me, and after the sex bum on a pillow to ensure the natural prostaglandins did their job on my cervix. First time contractions started half an hour after sex. Second time it was about six hours later. (Of course there were also plenty of times when it didn't do anything). Sorry if tmi!!

Are you eating and drinking? Also you need to go the loo regularly... at least every two hours.

Go to bed. Rest is what you need.

aquababe · 12/06/2007 23:22

got no advice other than rest as best you can hope it kicks off properly soon (after some rest of course)
good luck

hiya!!!
well had my 2nd sweep this afternoon, midwife said that im 60% flemzy 3cm and my forwaters are bulging!!!!ooouuuccchhh!!! it was painfull but worth a try she said that i have a good chance of going into labour on my own, but she cant say when or if for defo.
im abit fed up im having a few painfull preasure pains but im not holding my breath!! the good thing is that if i havent had baby this time nxt week then they will start me off but i will not need the gel or drip as im already dialateing they can just break my waters and hope that will work.
i feel like im never gonna have him im so upset but i feel guilty at the same time i just want to meet him.
im now 40+5!!!!!!!!
