Prom and induction

My waters have gone at 38+3, they give 24 hours to be induced but have recorded the rupture time as the time I started leaking small amounts of fluid and put a pad on rather than when they gushed. So I’m now on count down until 8am tomorrow. Same thing happened with dc1 but she was 36 weeks gestation and I’m sure they said it would be 48 hours before induction 3 years ago? I really want to avoid being induced as last time I went in to labour myself about 8 hours after waters went ‘properly’ and I’m confident given enough time I will this time too. Can I refuse induction at 8am and be monitored a bit longer? Obviously wouldn’t let it go too long as I understand the infection risk.

Of course you can refuse though they'll probably push for you to go ahead. They will probably want to monitor that you don't get a temp and check baby is ok.
