...but I came in this afternoon for a standard c-section pre clinic appointment (booked in on Monday).

That was at 1430. I’m now lying being monitored after them discovering I have pre-eclampsia almost by a fluke because I asked would they check my blood pressure as I’ve felt very swollen.

So my symptoms are under control and my baby is being born tomorrow morning. Today hasn’t gone quite as planned.

Flowers for you op! Try not to get stressed tomorrow you will have that baby in your arms and all the shit from today will melt away xx

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2018 23:56

Best of luck for tomorrow. Try & get some sleep if you can, you've an exciting day ahead of you Flowers

EleanorRoseM · 12/09/2018 23:56

I’m so scared, but the care I have had has been amazing. Midwives are amazing. I’ve cried so much and they have been so supportive.

Is this your first c section op? Xx

bootsandsocks · 12/09/2018 23:59

even the best laid plans op! it’s not great circumstances i understand, i had pre eclampsia found out when i was 3 days overdue and it’s shocking to realise that all the planning is then changed to immediate action but all will be fine and you’ll have your baby tomorrow. good luck and congratulations Flowers

EleanorRoseM · 12/09/2018 23:59

First and last!
No more babies...

You poor thing, that must have been such a shock! You are in the best place possible though (sounds naff but it's true) and did the right thing! It might not feel like it right now, but this is a positive development as both you and your baby are safer now than if you'd had them on Monday as planned! Make sure you ask every single question you might have (I keep lists on my phone)

Random thing:
Do you feel prepared in terms of having everything you need? Only asking because my caesarean is planned for Tuesday and I was planning finalising things over the weekend which seems risky now!

EleanorRoseM · 13/09/2018 00:10

I have nothing but my handbag with me.
Dh is bringing the poorly packed bags back in the morning.
Honestly I couldn’t care less about stuff at the moment im just lying here.
Top tip - carry your phone charger in your bag at all times. Dh had to buy one at great expense today! (Well - £15...)

Poor puppy was all alone from 1330 until Dh gets home soon now (my df popped in to feed her but that’s all).

Dd is loving life with a random bonus Granny and Granda sleepover.

NCPuffin · 13/09/2018 01:09

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound flippant - I was thinking mainly about your hospital bag etc!

Sorry to hear about your puppy! He should soon forget though! Hope your DH can gather the things you need to feel more at ease! And your DD will love being spoilt with her grandparents! None of this makes your situation easy of course, but try not to be too hard on yourself!

I hope your caesarean goes well tomorrow!

EleanorRoseM · 13/09/2018 01:25

I didn’t think you sound flippant. Smile I’m sure by tomorrow when it’s over I’ll want things, but just now I can’t even think about it. Wearing two hospital gowns (one each direction) in leiu if pyjamas.

I’m showered, had bloods taken and waiting for dh to arrive. Not long now. Still can’t believe she’s coming today.

DollyWilde · 13/09/2018 07:14

Ooh! How exciting Smile good luck today OP. Bet you can’t wait to meet her. Is DD excited to be a big sister?

Azra12 · 13/09/2018 07:15

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 13/09/2018 07:40

I'm sure it's all going to go well.

How exciting you get to meet your baby today!

Good luck Star

EleanorRoseM · 13/09/2018 09:44

Thank you.
They are so busy. Haven’t been given a slot yet. Nil by mouth and starving.

OP posts:
BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 13/09/2018 09:46

Hopefully your new arrival will be here very soon.

NCPuffin · 13/09/2018 11:26

The nil by mouth sucks, especially combined with delays (the (lovely!) nurse commented how I was wolfing down my cereal bars at 2pm after my ECV yesterday - it was supposed to have finished three hours earlier!).

Hope you get your slot soon! Is your DH with you? Hopefully it happens smoothly and you'll be having family cuddles with both your little ones before the day is out!

witchy89 · 13/09/2018 11:29

How exciting!!! Good luck! 😊

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 13/09/2018 11:35

The thoughts of the famous Post Birth Cuppa +Toast will get you through!!

EleanorRoseM · 13/09/2018 11:46

The best laid plans...

My bp has come down. So now I’m having 24hours of steroid injections to mature the lungs... she is now planned to be born tomorrow.

OP posts:
EleanorRoseM · 13/09/2018 11:46

I did just scoff a lot of toast and a tin of cold Fanta.
I’ll be fasting again tonight.

mooglycrunch · 13/09/2018 11:59

I hope all goes well. I am now 7 days post c-section. I went for a consultant appointment 3 weeks ago and was told I wouldn’t leave the hospital until I’d given birth. A mixture of pre-eclampsia and Gestational Diabetes kept me in for over 15 days. To make it worse we have only just moved and those days were earmarked for unpacking. It’s a shock but as long as your baby has a car seat and cuddles you are good to go! Xxxx

EleanorRoseM · 13/09/2018 23:28

mooglycrunch You have my sympathy. Are you home now? I’m being told it’s definitely tomorrow but I’m managing my expectations better. I was so sure from what they said today that I would have her in my arms already.
