Positive Birth Experiences

I'm due my first baby in 6 weeks and was hoping someone might have a positive birth experience to share?

I'm under no illusion that it'll be a walk in the park but i've heard enough horror stories to last a lifetime and would love to hear from those who've had a really positive birthing experience.

I am planning a home birth and taking part in hypnobirthing

Thank you for sharing

I love reading positive birthing stories. I really enjoyed a book called ‘stand and deliver: and other great ways to give birth’ before my first child. I had a long labour; attempted home birth and was at home for 40 odd hrs, all totally manageable with tens, breathing, taking showers and walking around. However stalled at 7cm and midwives wanted us to go in, which I felt was the only option by then. Ambulance in and baby’s heart rate dipped a bit, so they wanted me on the ctg on my back and syntocin to speed things up. With this the pain increased exponentially and I asked for an epidural - which had been my worst nightmare beforehand having done lots of hypnobirthing type stuff. However it was great! You adjust your own dose so I just had the lowest and could feel every contraction. I was able to rest a little and when fully dilated I was able to push her out in 20min. Completely euphoric and although not what I planned I found it an incredible experience. I honestly have been looking forward to doing it again. Currently 40+6 with number 2 and hoping to be able to stay at home this time! All the very best to you.
