Lost mucus plug after sweep?

I am currently 40+2 and had a sweep yesterday afternoon. The sweep wasn't overly successful as midwife said I had a posterior cervix and was too high up. She did however say it was soft so she managed to sweep a little and that she wouldn't call it unfavourable.
Since then I have noticed small bits of blood in my knickers and also when I wipe? I remember my mucus plug with my first being like like glue and coming all in one go. This seems to be when I wipe and in small quantities so is it my mucus plug or can a sweep cause some slight bleeding? I know it hurt and made me feel uncomfortable but the midwife didn't mention there would be any bleeding?!

I'm literally the exact same as you, had a sweep on Monday (I was 40+2) and midwife said baby is fully engaged and low, could feel her head but my cervix wasn't quite ready and was still too far back. She had some mucus plug come out then on her glove and then today I've had more with blood through it. I'm booked in for another sweep tomorrow morning and some aromatherapy at the hospital unless anything kicks in before then.

I had a sweep at 38 weeks and the midwife told me I might have some spotting after which i did but it should only last a day. i lost my mucus plug for the next few days and then waters broke about 4 days after the sweep

Yes it's normal to have light spotting and cramps after a sweep. Your mucus plug doesn't necessarily come out in one go, can be in lots of little bits over a few days, but you'd likely recognise it with a second pregnancy. However, this doesn't mean the sweep did nothing, just give it some time and be prepared just incase it was successful :)
