Sweep at 38+2?

Got a midwife appointment tomorrow when I'll be 38+2. It's my second pg, and I've been having what I'd call mild contractions for the past week or so. No frequency to them and some days they don't happen at all. Do you think 38+2 is too early to ask for a sweep? (if they would even do it this early)

Our trust offers a sweep as standard at your 38 week appointment so definitely not to early if you wanted to get things moving Smile

Oh I hope so! I get my hopes up every time the tightening/cramps start and then they go away again. Fingers crossed they do it, or at least book me in for one in a few days!

Nice guidelines say 41 weeks if it's your second (or more babies). I'm very surprised that a trust offers them at 38 weeks, unless that's for consultant lead pregnancies

I don’t know about the NICE guidelines but It’s offered as routine from 38 weeks at the Luton and Dunstable maternity unit now where I have my care. Not consultant led either as I’ve been really lucky to have complication free first pregnancy and hoping for a water birth on the MLBU and definitely going to go with the offer of a sweep next week to try and get things moving! Smile
