Today is my due date Smile this morning I lost my mucus plug (pretty sure I did anyway). What do I expect now? I've read it could be days still, anyone got stories to share from first pregnancies? Thank you!

I’m so sorry....but it means hee-haw really Sad

I lost mine and was even 2cm dilated when I rocked up for my induction at 41+6 😩

I hope it means you’re close! Congratulations Smile

Lost mine at 11am on the Wednesday and has my baby at 3.49am on the Thursday! Good luck!

@TheLuckDragon wow very quick turnaround! When did you start getting pains/contractions? I've had nothing all day since...

Have you had any contractions or pain? Things moved quickly for me, I went to the hospital to be checked and was 4 cm dilated. Have you contacted midwife? I took another 31 hours after that though...

Mamaryllis · 08/09/2018 23:20

Gave birth two weeks to the day.

cherrryontop · 08/09/2018 23:21

Lost the plug gradually over the space of a week. Every time I thought there can't possibly be more, there was!
My waters broke exactly a week after I started losing it.

dinosaurkisses · 08/09/2018 23:22

Mine came away gradually over the week before dd was born.

Take it easy for now and keep hydrated!

TheLuckDragon · 09/09/2018 03:02

I actually started lightly contracting on the Tuesday, lost my plug on the Wednesday and contracted lightly all day Wednesday. It started getting really painful about 6.30pm Wednesday, got to hospital at around 10pm and I was 7cm!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 09/09/2018 03:18

Mine didn’t come away until I was in early labour. It’s a step in the right direction anyway!

SoyDora · 09/09/2018 03:21

I didn’t lose mine until I’d already been in early labour for around 12 hours, both times.
It’s a bit ‘how long is a piece of string?’ But hopefully means things will be moving for you soon!

FloatyFlo · 09/09/2018 04:20

Lost mine at lunchtime, waters broke 12 hours later, ds born another 12 hours later.

Fingers crossed it's a sign for you OP

chloechloe · 09/09/2018 08:54

If you’re only “pretty sure” it was your plug it may well only have been part of it Smile. Mine came away in one go and there was no mistaking it. Baby arrived precisely one week later at 38+1.

SoyDora · 09/09/2018 08:58

Agree with the above, I thought I’d lost mine a few days before labour started but then I really lost it, and there was no mistaking it. I must have just lost a clump of it.

StarfishSandwich · 09/09/2018 11:42

I lost a very small amount about two weeks before my due date. At 40+3 I had a sweep, lost loads and loads of mucous plug on 40+4 and 40+5. My waters broke on 40+6 and I started contracting. He was eventually born on 41+1!

Proseccopanda · 09/09/2018 20:32

I lost my plug 5 days before DC1 was born, the other 3 times have been when I was in actual labour.

c307 · 10/09/2018 17:18

Went for a sweep today and more mucus plug came out but cervix is not in the right position yet and still too far back? Anyone else had this?

OP posts:
HerSymphonyAndSong · 10/09/2018 19:37

I had a vaginal examination at 40 weeks exactly and my cervix was high and closed and a sweep was not possible. I went into labour at 40+2 and he was born 40+3. An examination only tells you about your cervix at that time - things can change very quickly
