Induction

Evening everyone,

I'm currently in hospital on night 3 of being here. I've had one round of failed induction and now onto round two.

During the first round I had 2 pecessaries and one prostin gel. The first pecessary did absolutely nothing, whereas the second made me contract but not dilate. The gel did absolutely nothing either.

They put me on rest for 24 hours and now are going through the second round of induction. They've given me a pecessary again, but no contractions have kicked in or anything.

Has anyone had the same thing?

I'm not hopeful this second round of induction is going to work.

What was your outcomes?

Thanks

Can't help as was never induced, but what are their reasons for inducing you and how many weeks pregnant are you? Sometimes people's bodies just aren't ready for labour yet, no matter what is done!

Sorry you're having a rough time of it x

I had a failed induction with DC1, much as you're describing. On day 6 I told them I'd had enough and refused to allow them to continue the induction or to perform any more vaginal examinations. They'd told me my baby was at risk but were apparently happy to let this drag on indefinitely whilst I was in a worse and worse state. I had an EMCS and it was wonderful.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Perhaps it is time to talk to your consultant or head of midwives about where the line is for your induction? Good luck Flowers

Do you want to continue? You don't have to. You're in charge here-though it probably doesn't feel like it.

My induction failed and went for a section- was a blessed relief and would choose the section over an induction any day.

Another failed induction here, emcs in the end. If your unhappy and I'm guessing exhausted from all the monitoring ask for an elective, much better recovery time.

Evening all,

Thank you for all your replies. They were inducing me due to gestational diabetes. However two rounds of induction failed (1 who round being two prostin pecessaries, and 1 prostin gel)

In the end I gave up and asked them if they could break my waters which they did. Nothing happened.

Then they gave me the drip at 1500 on 6th sept, this bought on contractions getting stronger the more I was having. By 8pm in the evening I couldn't take he contractions with breathing alone, so ended up with an epidural.

11pm rolled around, examination showing I was only 2cms dilated. 2am came was only 4cms but not anywhere near ready for delivery.

4:30am came and I was still 4cms and not progressing. Registerer ended up calling it a day on the drip and said she wanted me in theatre within half hour.

My son was then born at 5:23am on 7th sept. It turns out my body cannot labour. Even with help. So had no choice but to have EMCS.

Very long and drawn out process for me. Was in hospital a total of 6 days trying to start my labour off. And he was born at 39+1 weeks.
