Whipps Cross Vs North Middlesex

Hi! I've seen a few threads on this topic but can't see any recent comments.
I'm five weeks pregnant with my first and have my initial nurses appointment next week so wanted to have this decision made. I live in Walthamstow and both hospitals are equidistance.
I think I will be classified as HR during pregnancy and labour due to having a mild heart condition so a midwife led/ water birth is unlikely. Does anyone have any recent comments on both hospitals? Specifically on Consultant led / CS experiences?
Thanks Smile

I gave birth at Whipps X four and a half years ago on the labour ward and had a very positive experience. A friend had a CS there this year and also had no complaints.
I highly recommend Healthworks in E17 if you'd consider hynobirthing. I have no doubt that my positive birth (at 36wks and 6 days - came home from work and went into labour) was down to my experience of attending the classes there.
Good luck with whatever you decide x

I had a EMCS at Whipps 18 months ago and was treated pretty well, I went through an epic induction before that though and so by the time the CS came about I was begging them to get the baby out! The staff were kind and friendly. Breast feeding support was there but I had to ask for it repeatedly.

If I have another one I'll go back there again.

I also did hypnobirthing, it seems to be an E17 right of passage these days!

I was consultant lead and then induced at Whipps. The pre birth care was fab (I had to have blood pressure checks and monitoring 3 times a week and scans every week for my 3rd trimester) but the birth and after care were awful. I would go to north mid if I had another.

I am also interested in hearing experiences at both. NMH has had a lot of investment in the last few years, but Whipps Cross seems to be highly rated by my SIL who is NHS staff, (not maternity though).

@anniero hello
I had my daughter at Nm worst experience ever! Didn't have a midwife for 17 hours didn't monitor the baby properly, gave me a room after 10 hours without midwife
Decided to have a c section that's when they took me into a ward and monitored the baby had to have an emergency c section
I was overdue about 10 days already
Then they couldn't care for my child as it was a lever 2 hospital in the intensive care so called a team from hackney Homerton and took my child
I nearly lost her because of the neglect
She was fine inside me 9 months everything normal but because of the labour she suffered stress and did a poo. Had to stay over a month in Hackney
No wouldn't discharge me to see me daughter for a couple hours even. They didn't take out my stiches wire till 9 days later.

So sorry to hear about your bad experience! I guess I need to go for a tour and see how it feels. Also will review the stats.

Thank you for responding.
