anyone had a waterbirth VBAC in hospital

I really fancy the idea of a water birth, but want to have my second baby in hospital - hopefully a VBAC

However my m/w says you are only "allowed" to used the hospital waterbirth facilities if everything is "normal" and VBAC would exclude me from this

The added advantage of a water birth is of course that they can't do CFM on me

Has anyone managed to have a water birth VBAC in hospital

(don't fancy the idea of a home birth as the hospital is 30+ minutes away & it would also totally freak DH out)

I didn't simply because it didn't appeal to me. My consultant was happy for me to do it if I wanted (and I was going for a VBA2C). Tell your midwife to bog off 'allowed' is a bag of shite, if you want to do it - do it!

Whereabouts are you (roughly) I did change hospital as the consultants at the original one weren't supportive of what I wanted. It was really worth doing as I met a consultant who supported and understood my wishes, to the extent that my second VBA2C was born at 42+3 and although there was one madwife who was very anti me still being pg at the time he stood by me.

My hospital wouldn't 'let' me. The problem is tht it's one of those things that they can stop you from doing. They can't do CFM if you refuse to allow it, ditto a drip, because these are things that are done to you and therefore require your consent. But it's the easiest thing in the world to put you in a room that doesn't have a pool!

Perhaps tell them you're going for a home birth in that case - you may just find that they become more amenable. (Although saying you can now, and the pool being available when you turn up in labour can be two different things)
