signs that labour is approaching

I'm 4 weeks away from labour with my third baby and wondered what signs people had that their labour would be starting soon. My last baby was two weeks early and in hindsight I can see I had a cleaning urge (put it down to just starting maternity leave) and was ravenously hungry the few days before.
I know all the usual textbook ones like losing the mucous plug but curious to know of the more 'intuitive' ones

Hmmm, this will sound strange (or maybe not) but I just had a feeling the day and night before. I can't really explain it except to say that something just felt different, a sort of increased sense of expectation? Sorry if that sounds weird but it's the only way I can explain it. I went out for a walk the night before and tings felt a bit out of sorts' adn sure enough I was woken at 3am with my waters breaking

I can't spell or type today. THINGs felt a bit out of sorts

DH is starting to spit the dummy about his share of housework as he reckons it's a waste of time as I'll go on a cleaning splurge in a few weeks.

I do love him really.........I think

One day I 'knew' my DD would be born the following day! It was several days beyond my EDD (by scan), and I had a show about four days before she was born. I was certain to the point that I told my midwife! (Who didn't believe me, pointing out it could be any time over the next week or so, but I just knew.) I think the main change was extremely hightened emotions (even more so than the rest of pregnancy .) It was almost as though the 'blues' hit before DD had even arrived.

Mog - my dates are a bit hazy but I am due anywhere between 29th August and 12th Sep. This thread has left me hopeful that it will be sooner rather than later - wishful thinking methinks

I am cleaning like a mad woman, am either crying my eyes out or getting furious over absolutely nothing and generally feel as if I have been pregnant forever.

First time round I had no urge to clean but was very weepy/moody around 10 days before he was born, who knows hey?

Have you had a show or any of the more "medical" signs? I had some really weird pains yesterday with what I thought as a show so I live in hope

Hayls I know what you mean about "something felt different". The week before ds born I had urge to "sort everything out" so topped up mobile phone. bought lots of stuff for freeer, had legs waxed!. That said I didn't realise I was in labour when it started, eventually phoned up hospital who said "well come in anyway" got there at 9 a.m. and he was born at 10:15 a.m. Ooops! At least I manged to do most of it at home though contractions weren't what i was expecting AT ALL! To me they felt like the dry heaves (maybe was just in denial!)

The world fell out off my bottom for no apparent reason - minor pains started 10 minutes later - babe born 3 hours later. Had no feelings or 6th sense that babe was on his way infact convinced myself and my husband that he'd be late - because of that, hubby didn't make it . The whole thing took us very much by surprise even though he was born on due date - so much for intuition

lucysmum · 20/08/2004 14:56

In the 12 hours before my waters broke: Went to the loo every 5 minutes. Had what I realised with hindsight was a show. Heavy dragging feeling and felt very tired - in fact went to bed. Nothing before then that I remember and nothing 'intuitive'

Yesterday I was convinced that something was imminently about to happen, I felt "different", bump was feeling v.low and I had the blues. 24 hours later and nothing! I've still another 9 days to go before my due date but DD1 was 4 days early and I keep expecting something to happen. I think it must be me being impatient now!
