egg donated babies

does anyone have any experience of babies conceived with donated eggs?

Is there any difference in the pregnancy, delivery, medical care, bonding, experience for the mother?

I'm asking as my cousin is in labour and I am visiting her today. I'm looking after her dss.

I was very surprised that her medical care was different ( consultant all the way) because it was an egg donation baby. Are there any other differences I should expect or possibly be aware of?

Thanks

I was told that all IVF babies are consultant led regardless of whether the eggs are donor or not.

Though it doesn't help that all the women I know who have had IVF babies have had some health problem/disability that would make them consultant led anyway if they didn't need IVF.

Yes I think all IVF pregnancies are consultant led.
I doubt there are any other differences you specifically need to be aware of.

Hi
Thats not true, ivf pregnancies are the same as any other, i have a donor egg concieved son, was nurse led in pregnancy. He is 100% mine, if they had counselling before hand then bonding etc shouldnt be different to those concieved by own egg. The donor conception network has some good info.
Congratulations on the new addition to your family xx

I gave birth to my egg donor twins on Thursday.

I was consultant led, but that was more due to having twins than IVF. I believe there is currently some evidence that pre eclampsia may be more likely in an egg donor pregnancy.

With regards to bonding. I am utterly besotted with my babies already and can’t believe they are here after doubting for so long that I would ever be a mother.

Treat your cousins baby as you would any other. I hope she has a safe labourSmile

well, I'm at her house now, with her step child, who is fast asleep, the little girl has arrived safely, thank you for all your information and good wishes

Hi OP,

All IVF pregnancies are not consultant-led. It depends on the circumstances and medical history (repeat miscarriages may trigger consultant-led, twins etc).

However all women (including low risk) can ask to see a consultant if they want to. Ask your midwife to make an appointment.

Friend had donor egg. All fine. Bonded well with her daughter.
