Today's the day... Induction 😭

So the day has come and I'm really not happy about it.
39+6 and being induced because of misbehaving BP.
A sweep on Friday has proven unfruitful.
Please tell me good induction stories as I'm dreading it.

I went for an induction but my waters broke while the midwife went to get some paperwork so you never know! The sweep may still kick in.

Good luck, you'll see your little one soon that's exciting! My induction process took quite some time but once they'd put the drip in I had DS in 4 hours, so no pain but just bored!! Take something to entertain you, I watched almost a whole Bake Off series

I was induced and had a poor labour but I won’t go into that. On the positive side the actual birth was amazing. No interventions and I felt like superwoman. You can do this. If you have an epidural get the type you can control and administer your self, it means you can lessen it in time for the pushing stage and regain some control to hopefully avoid forceps/venture. Good luck op, you can do this!

I was induced they broke my waters and had a water birth and gave birth 3 hours after being induced.

You’ll be fine. You might see your baby today and that’s so exciting. Take some snacks, magazines and music etc. Don’t forget slippers or socks and a cardigan if you get chilly.
I was induced with my second daughter. I spent quite a lot of time walking around the hospital to try and get things moving. I’ve had 4 kids and each labour was very different but the induction was ok.
Just focus on the excitement of finally meeting your baby.

I have had 2 inductions, one at 36 weeks the other at 37. Both times baby born without any other intervention, didnt need an epidural and both born on same day induction was started. It was absolutely fine!

Sweep with one, induction with send and had my waters broken. First pessery thing fell out, second did the trick and it was fine. I like knowing when it was going to happen! Good luck

I had one with DD. My waters were broken by the midwife at about 2am - very messy. Then the drip - that is painful but gas and air helped for a while.

A blessed relief from an epidural in the afternoon and a baby born at 5.40pm. Episiotomy and forceps at the end but all was well. A beautiful baby! I'm always grateful for the procedure because without it we could have both died.

Keep an open mind and remember that it's a means to an end - you'll get through it. Afterwards it'll feel like it all went by in a blur.

Will keep everything crossed for you, you can do it.

The most important thing is you will meet your baby soon!

My induction wasn't successful but my pain was managed well, and after some time with lack of progress we calmly went to theatre and DD was delivered by c-section.

I was so delighted to meet her I didn't mind the c-section bit at all, we had skin to skin straight away, I bf straight away and for 14 months, and recovery was fine.

So even if it doesn't go well things might be fine, if you see what I mean!

I was induced with my third and it took quite a while to start with but once I got to 7cm it just got going very quickly!
Try and think positively. It is possible to have an active and positive induction. I was still stood up and moving about, which is what I wanted as I find it much more comfortable to be stood up when I'm having contractions. Only had gas and air at the pushing stage. Keep calm and relax! If there's ever a good time to trust yourself and your body this is it! Good luck!

My DS arrived 40+1 which was what I was hoping for this time but they're not keen on leaving me.

Ds 1 was a natural birth which was horrific! Ds 2 was an induced birth which was great, it took a couple of days as the pessaries didn't really get things going and I did end up on the drip but I asked for an epidural at that point which was the best thing. I then fell asleep and woke up at 10cm and ready to push! There were some concerns about his heart rate at this point but 3 pushes and he was out so no intervention needed.

I'd take another induction over natural labour if I was given a choice.

I had two, both fine. First time (for wonky BP too) was 26 hours from pessary to baby but contractions really didn’t start for 12 hrs so I’d say 14 hours of labour.

Second time was 14 hours from pessary to baby but just two hours of labour. That was very unexpected, I was expecting it to be exactly the same as the previous time and it started off so but then bam! It went from 0-60 in about 10 mins!!

I’ve nothing to compare it to, but both times were perfectly ok, manageable etc. Waters were broken the first time, went themselves the second. Had pethedine the first time, no time for it second time around.

I was the same billie, they wouldn’t induce me until two weeks over due so by 42 weeks I really wanted to meet my baby. I would have been introduced earlier if i could have been. You’ll be fine, the most important thing is that you and baby both safe and well.

Baby is now nearly 5 months. Induction was absolutely fine. As others have said take stuff to do such as puzzle books (I wrote my contraction times on it!) And snacks.

Once they've started the induction lie for half an hour and then go for a walk -advice I was given and worked for me!

Your hospital might be different but I was expecting to go in at 4 but told to ring at 2 to confirm... told there was no room, ring back in a few hours then that they would ring back when ready... ended up being called in at 1;30am! As it was the night time dh wasn't allowed on to ward.

I've been induced twice and it was fine.

I had just gas and air each time, no need for any interventions etc

Second dc, I was in bits at the thought of induction. Multiple sweeps had done nothing. In the end, mw broke my waters at about 1, wandered over to canteen for lunch, contracting within an hour, baby out by half 6. No drip. Was lovely. And do then got d&v so I was in a single room overnight. Home next day.

Aww good luck not as bad as you may think! I got induced but ending up having an emergency c section.
Induction is boring but atleast your little one will be here soon

Got away with another sweep.
Labour ward was super busy so unlikely they'd do anything today.... Phew.
Back tomorrow

Wow what a day...
Bishop Score of 6, waters broken at 2pm, nothing much happened so was put on the drip with an epidural. Still not much so DP decided to pop home, and bam, 9.52pm midwife buzzed for help as babies heart rate was low, baby born at 10pm

Good to hear so many positive stories of inductions too. Interesting to me because I always dreaded being induced, I'd heard so many stories about long and painful labours.

I never was induced btw, had natural which didn't take too long and wasn't very painful but friends had awful times so not surprising I was scared.

Anyway well done to you.
