My husband and I both have phobias of needles. I spoke to the MW and doctors at the hospital about the injections and they said don't worry I can take them to my GP surgery or my community midwife can do them for me.
Asked my CMW yesterday and she said no I have to do them myself and she won't do them because she only works till 4pm.

The hospital said a midwife should be able to come out to me everyday if I need them to. If I have breastfeeding problems or whatever.

I managed to do the injection myself eventually....
So what DO I do if I have a problem and need support?

My CMW just says to call triage.

You could book into the nurse at your GP clinic every day to do it, but sad to say you probably should just learn to do it yourself, the NHS is not a bottomless pit of resources and a small injection designed for self administering should be manageable.

If you did it once, you can do it again. I saw it as a skill to be learnt, you are conquering your fears and if ever faced with somebody having an anaphylaxis episode you would be in a position to help.

Ask the community nurse to come and do them, I had 8 weeks of these after shattering my ankle. I managed a couple but eventually ended up having a panic attack. They burn when you do them and left me very bruised after 8 weeks, if you need the nurse to do them then call (you can look it up online or ask your gp surgery for the number) don't let them fob you off.

I’m a needlephobe and I have to do this every day. It’s not pleasant, but it gets easier I promise.

What I did was get my mum, who’s a qualified nurse, to teach me to do them. You should definitely be able to get someone at your GPS to show you/do it for you. If you only have eight to do, it’s probably not worth learning yourself.

Don’t know where I got eight from! Sorry.
