Lichen sclerosus birth stories?

Anyone out there have any lichen sclerosus or previous Fenton's procedure birth stories? Caesarian or vaginal birth? How badly did you tear?

I have lichen sclerosis and had a vaginal birth. I had a borderline 2nd/3rd tear (took them 3 hours to decide which). Afterwards it was too bad but did find it very itchy for a few months afterwards. Hope this helps.

Did you ever consider asking for a Caesarian because of the LS? What monitoring was done during labour? I am told that often they do an episiotomy to control tearing?

I don’t have LS but I do have an eczema condition down there which is similar. I’m currently considering elective CS as so petrified of tearing and not recovering/being scared of sex afterwards

I've got LS and had two vaginal deliveries. Both times I was consultant led (not for the LS) and also saw the dermatologist during pregnancy. I was advised to keep up use of steroid cream and had a couple of vaginal examinations where the consultant said the skin seemed stretchy enough.
I can't remember any special monitoring during labour tbh although the midwives did know about the condition. I had an episiotomy with both babies but as they were back to back I think a lot of it had to do with position. Stitches healed fine and sex life resumed as enthusiastically as it can be with a newborn! I'm also only 8 weeks pp so this is a recent memory!

Hi, I have had 2 vaginal deliveries inc twins - so 3 really!
2 x 'deep but neat' 2nd degree tears.

Also randomly I found that whilst bf, the itching went! As long as my periods stayed away. With DD1, the first sign I had of periods returning was the itch coming back 2w beforehand.

I have LS and have had two elective c-sections. My gynaecologist said it would be 'extremely inadvisable' for me to even attempt a VB. She wrote a letter to that effect to the obstetric consultant and it was agreed both times before 20 weeks with not even a quibble.

I guess it depends on whether you want a VB (in which there's a risk that you'll tear more than the average woman. My gyn thought it even after healing, it would make the LS worse as it tends to focus around scars) or a c-section (in which case I recommend getting a consultant on your side). Mine was Professor Wendy Reid at the Royal Free, a world expert in vulval conditions. You can see her privately as well.

There is a school of thought that links LS to hormones which is why it can be suppressed when breastfeeding.
