Birth Review

I really wanted to go for a birth review meeting at the hospital as there’s a few questions I’ve got of what happened towards the end of my labour.

I’ve requested one 3 times, was told a consultant would arrange one when my DS was 6 weeks, but at 9 weeks still haven’t heard anything.

Has anyone has ever been for one, we’re they useful or a bit of a pointless exercise? Just wondering if it’s worth chasing up for a 4th time or not.

I did this. It was called 'birth afterthoughts' in my area. A midwife came to my house with my notes and went through them with me. From memory I had to go on a waiting list and wait a few months, or it might have been that I didn't feel ready. It did help a bit and I made me feel better about certain aspects.

Googling Birth Afterthoughts it seems to come up in a lot of places. Getting to see a consultant is likely to be more tricky as they are so busy.

I did, except it was with a specially trained midwife.

Would definitely recommend to anyone who was left with any question marks over their birth or treatment. It put my mind at rest and let me move on.

Ok great, thanks guys, I will call and chase up today.

I’d happily have it with a midwife rather than a consultant as I’ve found them more personable so far.

I’m hoping to close the door on a few things and I hope talking through with a professional who had my notes will help.
