I think most hospitals are ok with water wipes but not sure about normal wipes. I just googled hospital bag and loads of lists came up that I used to pack mine.

My friends who had used cotton wool said it was incredibly hard to do those first few poo's but for others they preferred it, but we used Johnson's wipes and never had an issue.
Bag wise - I combined lists I found off google, asked around friends and what I would take camping (necessary essentials).
I found I still put too much in my bag and some off the stuff that I thought I would definitely use - cooling mist, flannels, hot water bottle etc went to waste. The ONE thing I would absolutely take is lip balm, the wards are so bloody hot it seriously dries you up. And if you plan on breast feeding I highly recommend lanolin nipple cream, it doubles up as a lip balm and my god I honestly couldn't have managed without it.

Hope this helps!

I was told to put vaseline on babies bum for those first couple of poos. Makes wiping it off soooo much easier. Best bit of advice I got regarding what to put in the hospital bag 🤣 that and straws.
