How can I bring labour on???

firstimer91 · 16/06/2018 11:07

I am 40 weeks, have a big baby, small body and am becoming increasingly apprehensive of labour due to this. I also only have 3 months maternity leave and due to a very physical job stopped 3 weeks ago, so I feel every day that passes I am now losing time with my LO.

I have tried:

Pineapple
Sex
Bouncing on ball
Nipple stimulation
Walks
Up and down stairs

Nothing appears to be helping, I have had 2 sweeps and lost my mucous plug. I have also been having cramps and false contractions for weeks, but never seem to amount to anything!

Any ideas??

Raspberry Tea capsules from Holland and Barrett's. They soften your cervix so even if they don't bring baby on, delivery will be easier. Good luck x

Thank you, at my sweep mw said my cervix is soft already, lots of signs of labour but no sign of labour! Do you think the tea could still help anyway?

Yes, and buy the capsules

If you find anything that works please share....am 41+1 & tried everything, still no bloody movement from his lordship!

Get down on hands and knees and scrub kitchen floor! This worked twice for me! Good luck to you x

I bounced and rocked on a ball for like five hours one night while watching films as my back hurt too much to sleep. Waters broke the next day!

Tinks15 · 16/06/2018 11:59

Reflexology apparently. Good luck!

Evening primrose oil, Clary sage oil, walking and sex!

A propess pessary, getting your waters broken or a syntocinon drip.
Honestly beyond medical induction nothing else is going to put your body into labour. I was 12 days over with my second. And despite being 3cm dilated/waters bulging/being soft and effaced, nothing got me into labour apart from an induction! And I tried the raspberry leaf, walked miles, was at the gym 3 times a week and had sex every day!

Cleaning the house from top to bottom did it for me with my second born at 39 weeks but nothing is helping with this one who is on the 95th percentile. I’ll be 39 weeks on Monday and have had a failed sweep on Thursday 1cm dilated but cervix was too far back so I’m booked for a c section next Monday though so not long now! Good luck

Nipple stimulation needs to be an hour a day every day. Proper medical trials show it working, but that’s the level they test at.
