C-Section Scar Problems

I delivered my daughter (first baby) on 1st March by emergency Caesarean section. All was well until I was 4 weeks postpartum when my scar appeared to open. I went to my gp as an infection was found. Unfortunately the next few weeks weren’t great and after 3 courses of antibiotics not working I was admitted into hospital for iv antibiotics. I came out of hospital with my scar re dressed and was having th district nurse out the dress it. It appeared to be getting better and the opening that had been there since week 4 was closing!

2 weeks ago it began reopening again and I now a 2cm opening and some very confused nurses. No infection seems present and I’m still taking it slow but everyone seems to be running out of answers! I’m nearly 13 weeks postpartum and would love not to have a dressing protecting a still open scar.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice?

I’m 14w post partum and have had the same issues! I still have about a 3cm wide opening in my incision that still requires packing and dressing every other day by a visiting nurse. My incision was reopened surgically 1 week after the c section to clear out a massive amount of blood. Then I had a negative pressure wound vac treatment for about 5 weeks. It looked like it was 95% healed over the next 3 weeks. Then it developed an infection under the healed tissue so it partially reopened. Now I’m on week 3 of antibiotics and still have a hole. It’s healing slowly. But it’s awful. Painful, can’t exercise much, feel crappy on the strong antibiotics. So I can totally sympathize. Feels like it’ll never be over!
