First birth was a vaginal and it traumatised me despite not being classed as one of the more traumatic ones. Second was an emergency section and was honestly such a magical experience I decided right there and then I wanted another one soon. Currently 32weeks with baby 3 due to be a planned section and I couldn’t be happier about it Smile

I had a scheduled cesarean for a medical reason.

It was fine and extremely quick.

Recovery was a little rough as I got an infection. I am told that drying the incision with a hair dryer each day prevents this---will be trying that next time.

All in all, a positive experience.

Mine was wonderful, but that may also be because it was in comparison to my first birth which was an emergency section and quite traumatic. I also knew what to expect in the theatre, so it wasn’t as daunting as first time around.

I found the whole thing so serene and lovely, to be honest, and would have done it again in a heartbeat of DH hadn’t squashed the idea of more D.C. 😆

My surgical team (at UCH) were really up on the whole ‘natural c-section’ thing, so they lowered the curtain as she was born (didn’t see any gore, but saw her as soon as she was out). I got skin-to-skin very quickly and in the short time they were weighing her and doing her Apgar score, a lovely, very bossy midwife made sure nobody blocked my sight of her. I felt really supported.

I was able to feed as soon as we were in recovery and I recovered very well physically. No pain whatsoever (take the meds they offer afterwards!). I was on cloud nine for weeks. I couldn’t imagine a better birth.

Good luck Flowers.
